This occurred when he won at the Euro Finals of Poker that was held at the Aviation Club, which is located in Paris, France. The grand prize that Alan Betson took home was worth US$140,000.

At the €800 No Limit Hold'em event that was held at the Holland Casino, located in Amsterdam, in November 2005, Alan Betson became a runner up to poker player Abdul Khodr. Nonetheless, he successfully won against eight hundred forty poker players and took home €71,680.

In the same year, Alan Betson won the second prize at the Irish Open that was held at the Citywest Hotel in Dublin, Ireland. His cash prize was €71,500.
